  For the one board birdhouse, a five or six-foot (depending on availability) “1×6” Cedar Dog Ear Fence Picket works GREAT! You just need to add 1/4-inch to measurement “E” because the picket is 5/8″ rather than 3/4″ thick. Looks great and lasts for years without paint or stain! Just make measurement “E” 4 1/4 inches.
