Embark on the Fly Fishing Mission, where young men in your Battalion will learn not only the fundamentals of fly fishing but also the deeper lesson of Dedication in pursuing a closer walk with God. This unique mission blends outdoor adventure with spiritual growth, equipping young men with valuable life skills and a heart for commitment in all they do.
Through four engaging meetings, participants will explore the essentials of fly fishing—tackle, casting techniques, “reading the water,” and even fly tying—while being guided by Scripture that emphasizes dedication, stewardship, and gratitude.
- Meeting 1: Introduces the basics of fly fishing—gear, techniques, and why fly fishing is a unique pursuit. Grounded in Proverbs 16:3, this session teaches the importance of committing our work to the Lord.
- Meeting 2: Focuses on mastering fundamental casting techniques like the overhead cast and roll cast, reinforcing the lesson from Colossians 3:17 about doing everything in the name of Jesus.
- Meeting 3: Introduces participants to understanding the feeding habits of fish, using indicators, and competing in reading the water—a key skill for successful fishing. This meeting is rooted in Job 12:7-10, reminding young men of God’s hand in all creation.
- Meeting 4: Wraps up the mission with an exciting hands-on experience, where young men will apply what they’ve learned on a real fishing trip, target specific fish, and even try their hand at tying flies. Psalm 104:24-25 serves as the foundation for this final lesson, emphasizing God’s wisdom in the beauty of nature.
The Fly Fishing Mission is an exciting journey that blends outdoor skills with spiritual lessons, helping young men learn to dedicate themselves fully—whether on the water or in their daily walk with God.
