Extrication: Wheelbarrow Carry
If you need to evacuate a person from the back-country quickly, this is a great method as long as they don’t need spine immobilization for instance.

Reducing A Dislocated Shoulder.
I actually used this method last night at our battalion meeting. We happen to be going through the First Aid module and during the game one of our guys dislocated his shoulder. It’s a super helpful technique.

ANKLE TAPING
Week two is fractures. But I wanted a more hands on skills presentation. So I purchased some cloth tape (cleaned out every drug store and grocery store in my town because i needed 50 rolls (one per person).
Here is the video i showed and walked them through during skills time. it was a lot of fun and super practical.

AdministratorFebruary 28, 2023 at 8:09 pm in reply to: Recognizing Your Leaders in ServiceDo you ever feel overwhelmed with all the things you AREN’T doing? I do sometimes. But each year we add a few more of the rich traditions and tools that CSB provides. I have put it on my list for our end of the year celebration to create a ceremony for recognizing years of service using the stars. I’m excited to recognize my awesome leaders!

The “Talk”: Some helpful resources.
I am suspicious even of supposedly Christiaan resources on the subject of puberty, sex, and relationships. But God knows parents and mentors need good, biblically derived and honest resources. These books were recommended to me and I have found them amazingly helpful.
- They are short.
- They point boys and girls to God’s word
- They help produce dialogue between children and parents
- They actually help prepare children for the blessing of growing up
I STRONGLY encourage you to use or to suggest these resources.
And my personal challenge is to begin the discussion early, before puberty begins and the conversation “get’s awkward.”

This article was sent to me by a young man in our battalion. I thought it was a spectacular way to view the whole conversation around sex.
Rather than describing sex as an appetite to be fulfilled, this author looks to the song of Solomon to reshape our thinking, and suggests we think and speak of it more as a vineyard to be cultivated.

Bonus Bars were the excuse that my Ranger, Rob Zeurner, used to do great outings with my brother and me. We learned how Christian men have fun and use that time to talk about God, memorize his word, and to have real conversation. Those boring little bars are powerful!

We can post videos here but it would need to be via a youtube link. I private messaged you here on BL with my cell number. Give me a call and I’ll show you how to do that. ๐

Great idea Arden! Thanks for sharing. Our battalion has incorporated a meal time from 6pm-6:30 before we start the actual program. That has been a great time to have the guys think about serving by providing food.
It has also been a great time for conversations and time to connect relationally that can be hard as the program zips through each night.

AdministratorSeptember 9, 2023 at 10:52 am in reply to: Motivating your boys while engaging men in your churchI have actually been contemplating how to incorporate the 7 points into our battalion as a part of our culture. I need a time/way to get them interacting with, thinking about, reciting, and memorizing them through the year. Any ideas?

That’s great to hear! I hope you find them as useful as I have!

AdministratorJanuary 11, 2022 at 4:05 pm in reply to: First Aid Mission – I need a Patch@Mfitzgerald Thank you so much for private messaging me. I’m posting it here because you have a great idea!
“I would recommend ordering from American Patch. They were fast and it was $84 for 50 patches. You can send the photo above with measurements. You can contact them at info@americanpatch.com. Just so you know, I donโt work for them or have any financial interest in their work. They were recommended by a fellow Battalion leader.”
DOES ANYONE HAVE A COOL GRAPHIC i CAN USE? THE TWO I’M SEEING SEE LIKE THEY CAN BE IMPROVED UPON ๐
@andrewrrowanyahoo-com You are great at beautiful patches. Any Thoughts?

AdministratorJanuary 11, 2022 at 3:16 pm in reply to: First Aid Mission – I need a PatchI need about 50. Which is a good problem. Do you have that many of the red/white ones?
The other option is for CSB to order some but we would need to order 300. not a huge deal but would anyone else use them in the next year or so?

Thanks Michael! How many do you have?
Sorry it took me a while to respond. I haven’t been at my desk. As you may have seen on the activity page we just finished up a big leadership event for young men last week. If you haven’t seen the pics, take a look. it was a great event.

Thanks Keith! I haven’t read that but I have liked other things I’ve heard from DeYoung.

Thanks Josh!

We are finding it really beneficial to allow men from outside the battalion leadership. it involves other men who may not yet have the time or the vision to be involved as leaders. Also, we have too many boys for the mentoring to happen well if it were only up to leaders. ๐

Thanks Howard! You can Pm them to me or if they would be useful to other ;leaders just attach/copy them into a response right here.
