Adapting Stockade Modules: Flight as an example
Brigade Leaders – during this time of “physical distancing”, we should not be “socially distancing” from other leaders, dads/mentors, and our boys. Now is a great time to hunker down and dig in to your Brigade materials. Many units are meeting via Zoom which is great because you get “face time”. But, a few of my guys are unable to meet on the computer due to bandwidth and other issues. So, we are doing “individual unit meetings”.
I have taken our Outpost Adventure Module FLIGHT (which we just started) and reworked it so my dads can do it at home.
Granted, there is no game time, but most everything else in the Leader Guide is useable: scripture, post time, project time, teachings, and stories. With just a little prep, it is easy to rework the Leader Guide materials for dads and then email them each week’s lesson. I encouraged my dads to do it on our regular meeting night so they don’t get out of the habit of a Stockade meeting. But they can do it during the week as well. The promise is, that once we are back together, the boys will get their FLIGHT PATCH. AND dads will be spending time discipling their son. That’s our reward!
Stay Bright and Keen for Christ!
